Have you discovered the Monferrato? You really should. This area is less known than Langhe but should NOT be overlooked. It offers a great alternative to areas such as Alta-Langa that can be heavily compromised by being very isolated.

Take the towns of Moncalvo, Montemagno, Portacomaro, Cunico, Castangnole Monferrato, etc - all outstanding, and the landscape is spectacular. Go visit and you will see I'm not exaggerating. It's a little Tuscany but without being overrun with tourists and property price are much lower, in fact, even lower than the Alta-Langa so you can buy without the compromise of having to travel those terrible switch-back bendy roads every time you need a loaf of bread.
We took a ride out this Sunday afternoon as so often we visit for work but only fly through without the time to really experience it.
The area is full of hill-top towns, castles, rolling hills, vineyards, sunflower-filled fields, wineries, big skies, friendly people, great restaurants, pizzeria, and outside bars. And it's all in easy reach of Asti, Moncalvo, Milan, and Turin. Perfect!
