Cisterna d'Asti
Monferrato, Piedmont, Italy
Cisterna was a vibrant town in the middle ages but now is calm and often overlooked. It's a real gem of a place and produces fantastic wine, especially its Cisterna DOC, a wine produced from the Croatina vine. The area around is called Le Rocche and was once under the ocean so sea shells are often found in the sandy hills. The sand gives the local wines unique flavour. The white wine Arneis is also something outstanding. We live under the comune of the town and love this area.
