The town of Cassine has a very famous son. We'll come to that.. The town was established in the 10th century. There were local wars when the Marquis of the Monferrato gave it to Alessandria. Alessandria took it in 1231 and flattened it. It was later rebuilt, occupied by Facino in 1404, sieged in 1451 by the Marquis of the Monferrato, then Charles V took it in 1556 and then the French in 1644. In 1707 it was annexed by the Savoy family. In 2023 you could buy a house here!

In 1938 Luigi Tenco was born there. Luigi is the most famous and most loved singer-songwriter in Italy. Italy's Bob Dylan! He wrote for cinema in particular. His story is fascinating. Possibly being the son of one of the Micca sons, Turin's highest of society. He died young, at the age of 29, but had already established himself as Italy's best and is still revered today, even by young Italians. The owner of the property went to school with Luigi.

The area around the town is also incredible. This is a big and important wine area so most of the hills are covered in vineyards. The landscape and small towns around are breathtaking. The famous town of Acqui Terme is just 15 mins away and Nizza Monferrato 20 minutes. The coast is also in easy reach - less than an hour.
