We love BBC Top Gear so it was great to see the Monferrato and Langhe in this week's show. The boys - Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May- drove three hot hatches from the Tuscan town of Lucca, up to Canelli in the Monferrato hills and then down to Monaco via the Langhe hills.
There were many scenes shot in the centre of Alba - looking for dogs and trying to fit as many people as they could in their cars. They filmed outside the Duomo in the centre of the town (police bicycle) and on the newly restored (to incredible ugliness) Piazza Savona.
The roads here are great and the scenery spectacular, as the program showed.
Don't over look this part of Italy if you are thinking of buying a house! We specialise in properties in the Langhe and Monferrato - all within easy reach of the Mediterranean coast!
The Grand Tour in Turin
Recently, Jeremy Clarkson was seen roaring through the streets of Turin in a £2.5m Bugatti Chiron. It's in Series 2 Episode 3.
Just in case you're wondering where the streets are he went on:
Approaching from the Susa Valley he went along Corso Regina Margherita, then past the main railway station, Porta Nuova on Corso Vittorio Emanuele II. From there he went over the Po river on the bridge and turned left onto Corso Moncalieri. At the Gran Madre church he went back over the river on the Vittorio Emanuele I bridge and entered Piazza Vittorio Veneto. This leads directly on to Via Po then on to Piazza Castello. On the left corner of the piazza, he blasted up Via Accademia delle Scienze and into Piazza Carignano where he met his beautiful blonde 'Contessa' who arrived at exactly the same time at the restaurant Del Cambio.
It was a fantastic scene, beautifully filmed and the car was awesome. Made us proud to be here!
