There was once a time when it was an advantage to be British. The British loved to boast that their famous blue passport could get them in anywhere. That was taken away when the country joined the EU but we loved the practicality of passing through one EU country to another. As a family it was a great advantage as my wife's country, Poland, then joined the EU and we decided to live in Italy and that made things easy.
Now we have had so far 3 years of Brexit and things are getting a bit mixed up. There seems to be no end in sight and we're all sick of it. When I meet someone and they realise I'm from the UK I look at my watch and see how long it takes them to bring up Brexit. It's so boring.
So, here's my point, it's really upset the market here, created instability in the whole of the EU and beyond as no one knows what will happen next. The positive thing is that Italy now appears stable compared to these other countries. The economy isn't so bad and this area is booming. There are changes but overall it looks healthy. The weather is fantastic this year and tourism is increasing so property prices are sure to rise.
So, if you're sick of Brexit, move here. We watch from a distance like those people in the 79AD watching Pompeii getting buried in ash and molten laver. Because of the struggles of the Italian economy and so many young people leaving for what they think are better places house prices are down. We can negotiate with much more success these days so if you see a property on our Website that you like but it's 30% beyond your budget, we can try. It's not all doom and gloom. Why are you waiting?! Your real life is about to begin.
