The real Italy is Moncalvo!
I came across a great blog site this week, written by Nate Robert. If you're thinking of buying a home in the area be sure to take a moment to read his blog dated 24 Jan 2014 about Moncalvo.
Most buyers are focused on just one area - The Langhe. There's good reason to love the area but it's a crying shame to overlook what is often called 'little Tuscany', the area north of Asti around the city of Moncalvo, in the area called the Monferrato.
This area is simply stunning, here's why:
It's much easier to get around.
Some parts of the Langhe are very isolated and involve long journeys to get back to larger towns or road networks. For most people it just doesn't suit their modern lives. The Monferrato is simple - an Autostrada runs right up the side of it connecting the coast with Milan and another through Asti connects Turin and the east of Italy. Local travelling is also much easier but it's rolling hills rather than extremes in altitude.
You get a lot more for your money.
I would say on average it's about 30% - 50% cheaper to buy in the Moncalvo area. Why? Because it still stays largely undiscovered but that will change. Below are a few houses in the area that prove the point.
It has so much to offer.
Great places to eat, wineries, health spas and fantastic towns. Don't take my word for it, go see for yourself.
